You will write a ~5 page, double-spaced, 12-pt font paper that focuses on the issue
of wrongful convictions. You will investigate a real case study of a person falsely
convicted and sentenced to prison but was later exonerated with help from an
organization called the Innocence Project. You will research the case and write a
summary that highlights the psychological principle(s) related to the false
conviction. For example, one of the most common reasons why a person is
wrongfully convicted is eyewitness misidentification. In addition to reviewing the
case and the causes, you will find three psychological research articles that you
think are relevant to the case and provide summaries of their findings. For
example, what does the scientific literature say about the accuracy of eyewitness
memories? These articles must be from a peer-reviewed academic journal. More
details will be provided later in the semester on how to search and find research
articles.
