YOU MUST USE THE SOURCES AND THE PROPOSAL THAT WAS APPROVED BY MY PROFESSOR – THE DOCUMENT IS ATTACHED
In this final module, you will showcase your knowledge of the course and research prowess. With focus on the topic you selected in Module 3, address one of the prompt below:
Option 2: Compose a memo to a president or congressional representative.
Choose an existing politician, past or present, to brief about your chosen topic. Compose a 2-page memorandum that includes a clear statement of the issue and how the issue fits the candidate’s broader concern, actions, and goals. Your memorandum should include the causes of the issue, why action is needed now, and possible ways of resolving the issue. To view two examples of memos, see National Security Memorandum 1 (1969) [Accessible Version Available] and Memorandum on Renewing the National Security Council System (2021).
In the same document, following the memorandum, include a thorough summary of supporting evidence, including an overview of the history and development of the issue as well as statistics, precedents, article summaries, and/or testimonials. You may include images (graphs, charts, etc.) but these do not count toward the overall length.
Formats for Submitting Your Project
For either option, you may submit either a written word document or a PowerPoint with detailed notes. The expected length of the word document is 5-6 pages of content (11- or 12-point font, double-spaced) plus a references list.
General Expectations
Regardless of which prompt you address and which format (document or narrated PowerPoint) you choose, your project should include the following:
A clear, concise statement of your topic.
Background information about the topic. This could include history of the topic, current debates, relevant court cases, or change over time, among other information.
A mix of references to course concepts and vocabulary, outside sources, and your own ideas.
Connections between the topic and your personal, social, and political context.
Structure that includes an introduction, body, and conclusion.
Topic sentences and transitions that help link all content to the main topic.
