Formatting Criteria:
Resume needs to be one page.
Balance white space between headings, bullets, and margins to make it easier to read.
Fonts need to be professional and easy to read. Use standard fonts such as Cambria, Garamond, Georgia, Palatino, Times New Roman (although some believe it is outdated), Arial, Calibri, Helvetica, Tahoma, or Verdana.
Use one or two fonts only.
Body font should be between 10 and 12 pts.
Heading font should be slightly larger, around 14 pts., than the body.
Heading should be uniform (same size, font, bold, capitals, etc.)
Information should be bulleted for easy skimming.
Margins and tabs should be use correctly.
Alignment buttons should be used to right align, left align and/or center.
Do not use the following formatting:
headers (even for contact information)
footers
templates
graphs
charts
accents
shading
underlining or italics.
