You are to take any social movement or idea, and illustrate how Popular Culture has influenced its progress (for better or for worse), and continues to do so.  A social movement is a belief put into action. There’s also a list of common social movements at the bottom of this doc. First, your thesis must be an original and specific argument on how pop culture affected the movement. For example, “The gay rights movement benefited more from 90’s-00’s television sitcoms’ attempts to normalize it than from more subversive and underground movements.” What this means is, you PROBABLY WON’T HAVE YOUR THESIS UNTIL YOU’VE DONE SOME REAL RESEARCH! Look at the key moments in each movement. Other than (obviously) organization, the most important thing I am looking to see here is historical reach.
