WRITING REQUIREMENTS. Construct a logical and thoughtful academic essay:
Open with an introduction that introduces your film in general.
State your thesis at the end of your introduction. It should be 1 succinct sentence that mentions your lens and how it applies to your film.
Organize your essay logically and clearly. Body paragraphs must be unified, cohesive, and developed. Each paragraph should have a topic sentence. Ideally each would also have a transition at the end that leads to the next paragraph.
Take a deep dive using your critical literary lens.
Provide concrete evidence (Sandwich Quotes) both from the script of your film and from your secondary library research sources to support your thesis and topic sentences. 3+ secondary sources from the college library database are required. Use short direct quotations to prove your ideas and theories.
Provide analysis: Sandwich your quotes- 2 per body paragraph. Explain the significance of your evidence.
Conclude with a paragraph that restates your thesis and summarizes and synthesizes your collaborative findings.
Use MLA style to cite. Type in double spaced, 12-point Times New Roman.
This is a formal essay: Avoid 1st and 2ndperson POV.
Essay length should be 1000-1200 words, not including the Works Cited page.
