One of the most frequent tasks you will have as a paralegal, apart from drafting legal documents for clients and court, is preparing cost tickets and bills—after all, that is how most firms make money and how your salary is paid! Every office has its own procedure for handling billing matters and many use a software program to prepare billing invoices for clients. In this exercise, you will use the billing features of one of two popular legal office management programs.
Part I
You are asked by the partner to produce a cost ticket in Clio for a pre-bill on the case based on the information below:
Initial Consultation—Attorney 1 hour x $200/hour
Client Interview—Paralegal 1 hour x $74/hour
Document Preparation—Paralegal, 2 hours x $74/hour

Create a final bill for a matter in Clio using the following information:
