Lab Reports Rubric
This applies to all labs except the Bioinformatics lab
A. Paragraph 1
State the hypothesis of the specific lab in your own words (3 points). In 3-4 sentences,
explain the scientific method used to investigate the hypothesis (7 points).
B. Paragraph 2-3
Explain the data/results you obtained during the experiment as it directly relates to the
methods used in your experiments (5 points). Include labeled figures (2 points) (not just a
picture with a title; put arrows, numbers, letters, etc to indicated specific aspects of the data
you would like to highlight. Write a figure legend to accompany each figure (1 points)).
Refer to the figures in your explanation of the results (2 points). (1-2 paragraphs)
C. Paragraph 4
Using at least one primary scientific research article, explain how the methods and goal of
the lab was applied in another study (real world application). (10 points)
D. Answer questions associated with the lab. (10 points)
E. Include references. (-5 points if missing)
