This week’s resources focus on the metal lathe. For this discussion post, you will consider whether the types of jobs you would complete on a lathe are conceivable for an at-home gunsmith.
Conduct outside research into one or more options to purchase a “mini-lathe”. Comparing the features of the mini-lathe to the full-size machine described in the course text, answer the following prompts.
1. First, describe the lathe you reviewed. Discuss it’s capabilities, set up, and cost.
2. Based on the types of jobs you would perform with it, do you see a “mini-lathe” as a good investment, or would you rather “farm out” machine work to a dedicated shop? Why?
