This paper however will be more research focused. Students will be
required to link the issue discussed in some way to the material in this course; either through
making connections or drawing comparisons. The major goal of this paper is to discuss an issue
of importance to the lived experiences of Caribbean women, but to also engage Caribbean
women’s voices and specific views on these issues.
In identifying an issue impacting Caribbean, you will explore and research that issue, and the
factors that contribute to creating the problem and how it impacts Caribbean women. You will
also explore solutions that have been utilized to address the problem and assess if they have been
effective. You will then identify if there are solutions that have not been explored and highlight
what those solutions might look like. Finally, you will reflect on how the issue connects to what
we have learned within this course – to do this you will identify at least four course
readings/viewings to make connections to and at least one concept from the PowerPoint
presentation in week 2.
Flow – The content was communicated clearly and makes sense. Includes the purpose of
the paper, why you chose this project, and seamless transitions throughout the paper.
 Paper Format – The format of the paper was clear, concise, and met page requirement. 5
pages 12pt., Times New Roman Font, and double-spaced. Citations and references are
correct.
 Summary of issue – Clear, thorough, and detailed summary of the issue impacting
Caribbean women, factors that contribute to the problem and how Caribbean women are
impacted. A minimum of five sources identified to explain the issue.
 Summary and critique of solutions/approaches – Provide a clear and thorough
description and summary of the solutions and/or approaches being utilized to address the
issue. Provide critique and benefits of each solution. Additionally, identify if there are
solution(s) that have not been identified.
 Reflection – Provide connections and explanation of how you see concepts from the
course content emerging. You should provide clear examples and at least 6-8 connections
total.
Paper is clear, has a cohesive flow, smooth transitions. Includes purpose and rationale for selecting this option. Also includes introduction and closing. Detailed and in-depth summary of the issue affecting Caribbean women, the factors contributing to the issue and how Caribbean women are impacted, with the 5 articles identified to explain and describe the  issue. 2 pages 
Detailed explanation of solutions/approaches to addressing the issue provided and multiple critiques and benefits of
the solutions identified and alternative approach. 1 page 
In-depth analysis and explanation of how you see the concepts and content from readings/viewings
emerging in the selected issue. At least 6-8 (total) connections provided and explained.
