This is my topic …..
The influence of online gaming on acdemic performance among adolescents who play the game and who doesn’t
Thesis: The thesis of this paper is to investigate the influence of online gaming on cognitive skills and academic performance among adolescents. By analyzing various aspects of online gaming, including game genres, duration of gameplay, and social interactions within gaming communities, this study aims to uncover how these factors affect cognitive abilities and academic achievement. The justification for this inquiry stems from the growing prevalence of online gaming among adolescents and the need to understand its potential impact on their cognitive development and educational outcomes. Through this research, valuable insights can be gained to inform educational strategies and interventions that support adolescents’ cognitive growth and academic success in the digital age.

Your paper assignment is broken into 4 parts: topic approval, annotated bibliography, detailed outline, and final paper. These instructions are for the first section: Topic discussion
In this first section, you will need to submit a paragraph describing your topic. What is your research question? And, why? The purpose of this section is to make sure that the topic that you are approaching will be sufficient for the paper assignment. Some questions may be too large and will need to be restricted. Some topics will be too narrow and will need to be expanded. Some questions may simply not be research questions. Rather than pin you to a topic, I want to encourage you to see how any questions that you have about can be researched.
For this first section, you only need to present me with the thesis of your paper and a brief justification for it. We will discuss any changes that need to be made. You can use this area to discuss any questions about the paper or the paper process. This region will close near the end of the semester. When this section closes, no further paper topic changes are allowed. So, you will need to research your topic a bit before that deadline. For this reason, Paper 2 and Paper 3 assignments will close at the same time as this topic area.
Your paper in the final assignment will be APA research paper and will need to be about 5-7 pages (NOT counting cover, bibliography, etc.). This means that you will need to have all parts of an APA research paper (see resources). You will NOT need or use real data. I will provide you with the data for your experiment for your analysis. In order to receive this data (on April 26th), you will need to have successfully completed the paper topic discussion with me. When we have finished discussing your paper, THEN you will be given data. If you DO NOT complete this discussion section prior to April 26th, then you will NOT be given data and you will receive an automatic ZERO for the results section of the paper (which will fail the paper).  Portions of the grade will be on formatting and grammar, but that will be discussed when it comes time to work on the paper itself.
For now, just prepare a research question that is researchable, interesting to you, and can be turned into about a 8-10 page paper (full page breakdown is available in the rubric).
For more information about writing an APA paper, please see the links in the resources section. OWL at Purdue has all of the information that you need for writing an APA paper. You will not have a methods or results section, but otherwise should look exactly like a normal APA paper. There are additional links provided that demonstrate how to make an annotated bibliography as well as how to do a detailed outline. The resources section has exactly what you need and shows you exactly what you need to submit. Most of the grading of these assignments will come from this formatting. I will upload the full rubric later this week.
Do NOT wait until the end of the semester to begin this. Each assignment is small (except the final paper) and make the writing of the paper VERY easy if you break it into these smaller manageable sections across the rest of the semester. This paper will be submitted through software that checks for plagiarism and AI. MANY students have failed due to the zero AI policy, so please write your own paper.
Please understand that you have papers in every class now so that you are practicing these skills which in turn will make them easier. Please also understand that papers are just a way of you demonstrating communication skills. If you can’t write it, then you can’t speak it, and you certainly don’t know it. So, this is an exercise in learning how to communicate ideas to people. Since most of the grading comes from formatting and grammar and such, you should be comfortable expressing your own voice in this writing. AI is NOT that voice, and while AI may provide a clear way to say what you mean, AI cannot answer a question for you on a job or during an interview, so again, stay away from AI as it is NOT helping you and you WILL be caught.
I submitted my old paper fromlast year on here so you can have a example it should bee like the last paper the bibilioraphy and detailed outline is for this paper
