this assignment asks that you take a deep dive into a topic that is personally intriguing for you and produce a solid paper on that key aspect of the theme you are interested in studying; I picked “pornography and it’s representation in the early modern period” and i wanted to focus on what their lives looked like along with the cultural treatment it received, in addition to censorship. *(the sources i have provided should help to answer this)
This paper will be thesis-driven and argument-based. What I do not want to see is a report on something like trans lives in the early modern era.
What I *do* want to see is an argument concerning what those lives looked like or how they were lived. Example of a thesis statement for an argument paper like this:
**Though the identity of trans man or trans woman did not exist in the early modern era, there were women and men who lived what we understand as trans lives. Succinctly, women (in the early modern era) who dressed as men and married women were living what we would now understand as trans lives or, living what might be termed, proto-trans identities.** (This is only an example thesis statement, do not use)
some questions to consider and can be used in the essay: WHY was porn so bad? what changed?
what did the evolution of this lead to?
