The term paper for this course will be a contrast of current media reports and actual current research on the subject.  The topic will be self-selected by the student and limited to course content. The paper must be typed APA format (citations and references) Times New Roman font 12 and submitted as a word document. The paper must include a cover page with Name, course title and topic title The paper will follow the following format:
Part 1: Introduction
Brief overview of subject followed by summary of media coverage including appropriate APA citations of material (approximately 1-2 pages, minimum of 3 media sources)
Part 2: Review of Literature
A synopsis of current literature of the topic which demonstrates ability to effectively review research and provide synthesis of information and demonstrate understanding of the topic.  NOT simply a list describing or summarizing several articles or a series of quotes.  (approximately 3-4 pages, minimum of 4 sources)
Part 3: Opinion
State your opinion of the subject in an appropriate upper level collegiate fashion in tone and language. Compare and contrast potential views. (1 page)
Part 4: Effect on Sports
Detail the potential effect of subject on the future of sports in terms of potential changes on participation (athlete and spectator) and/or governance issues. (1 page)
Reference list
