The final paper will be an extended essay (about 15 pages, 5000 words) that should be analytical and comparative. Each student should select a topic related to the theoretical.
This paper is for my Middle Eastern Politics class and I want my topic to be about Turkey′s history and how that has affected the LGBTQ+ community, whether that is politically or socially. Researching what policies affect the LGBTQ community and what that looks like socially. Is the politics aligning with the social acceptance or are they contradicting each other? And why are the LGBTQ community being affected by politics or socially or both? Also comparing the treatment of the LGBTQ community in Turkey to other middle eastern countries.
Main question: What are the political and social impacts on the LGBTQ+ community in Turkey? and why is this happening? Are they affected socially or politically because of Turkey’s history, religion, westnization/modernization, Islamism?
