Students are required to select a country in the region (mine is Morocco) and analyze its domestic
politics, political economy, and its relations with other states in the region. The essay has to be double-spaced and excluding the bibliography section.
The essay should analyze the following: 
– Domestic politics: government system and state structure; political parties, and
local/national elections; democracy and freedom; ethno-linguistic diversity, social equity,
and justice; youth and women in politics; religion in politics; domestic conflict; social
movements.
– Political economy: Economic structure (state-command economy, economic liberalism,
etc.); economic metrics (GDP, inflation, unemployment rate, etc.); economic challenges. 
– Regional relations: regional alliances; regional conflicts; importance of the country in the
region.
The essay should emphasize the opportunities and challenges your country-case 
is facing in these
three areas. Your arguments should be evidence-based, using several 
scholarly and/or journalist
sources. Encyclopedias (including Wikipedia or Britannica), videos, and blogs are not accepted
as sources for this assignment. 
Your grade is based on the following:
Structure of the paper (10%), accuracy of the information/evidence provided (20%),
comprehensiveness of the essay (30%), complexity and soundness of your argument (30%),
and citations/resources (10%).
