Proposed project title:
Exploring the utility of Emotion Coaching as an early intervention socioemotional wellbeing
program; a literature review of its use for school aged children and their caregivers
Aims of the project:
Behavioural, social and emotional problems emerge in early childhood, and are associated
with poorer outcomes. The authors are aware of the delivery of a targeted, Emotion
Coaching-based, small group program in schools. We intend to review the literature so as to assess and document the evidence base
supporting Emotion Coaching interventions for at risk school-aged children and caregivers.
Project question and/or hypothesis
Q: Does Emotion Coaching, as an early intervention program for primary-school aged
children and their caregivers, demonstrate a change in outcomes (variably measured –
including individual and relational measures) for at-risk (as determined by screening
measures of social, emotional and behavioural wellbeing)?
