When companies, citizen groups, or individuals are involved in negotiations with government entities, multiple factors can impact the context of the situation. Types of authority can          cause a power imbalance. The two parties to the conflict may also have different conflict      styles. Cultural factors may impact communication during the negotiations. It is important    to understand whether the parties come from cultures based upon individualism or               collectivism. It is also important to consider whether the cultures are of high or low context.  For this assignment, it is very helpful to consider Zartman’s five approaches to negotiation   when preparing to work through a conflict, which are described in Chapter 5 of the textbook. It is also important to consider whether single issue non-numerical bargaining,                       multiple-issue negotiation, or win-win negotiation should be used.
For this assignment, you will assume the role of the mediator. In your paper,
Define the issue that is of great importance to the Mohawk and to the government   of Quebec.
Discuss the history between the Mohawk people and the government bodies of        Canada.
Evaluate whether the history between the two groups and their cultures impact       more recent relationships.
Explain what information is needed for you to be able to successfully do your job as a mediator between the two groups.
Be sure to include any information regarding historical and present power    imbalances and good faith bargaining.
Explain whether the conflict is resolvable or not, and why.
Explain your approach to either conflict management or conflict resolution with the  two groups using the five negotiation strategies described by Zartman in Chapter 5 of the textbook.
Be sure to explain the reason for selecting the strategies you chose.
