Please choose one of the following two topics.  Your paper should be 2-3 pages typed, double-spaced, 12 point font.  Your paper should include examples from the text.  Chapters 7 and 8 discuss Blaxploitation in general and the films we watched in particular.  
1.  Using Sweet Sweetback’s Badass Song, Coffy, and/or Superfly discuss the Blaxploitation  period.  Who were the ones making these movies?  Was the audience only Black people or did they have crossover appeal, and if so, why?  Also discuss how the heroes in these movies are something new and positive and yet also hearken back to older negative stereotypes of Black people in film.  For instance, this is the first time we see the Buck as the hero.  Themes of exoticism, misogyny, Black Power, and institutional racism are present and can also be discussed.
