One Pager Assignment for Refugee (Gratz, 2017) 
What is a One Pager? 
One Pager: an image-heavy, idea-driven assessment that prompts students to select the most meaningful ideas in a text, make connections to their own lives, and display the ideas creatively with color, drawings, and quotes. One-pagers are magical in the sense that they make thinking and talking about reading fun again. 
***Note: One-pagers can be modified for any subject and any type of text. (Such as analyzing images, music videos, historical, social science, popular science, and current event articles.) 
PURPOSE: *Comprehension Assessment*–Many students are strong in comprehension and discussion of texts BUT have difficulty writing well about the texts. 
● The one-pager makes the writing component less intimidating, so students are focused more on the ideas in the text. They were not worried about their transitions or writing a stance or a conclusion. As a result, a lot of anxiety is lifted when students complete one-pagers as an assessment. 
● For example, students who speak another language at home and students who have learning disabilities tend to find one-pagers powerful pieces to show their learning.

Directions: Using the text REFUGEE (Gratz, 2017), create a One Pager that incorporates all the items listed below. You have the freedom as to where things are placed on the page and the colors you use. (25 points; 2 points for #1-10; **5 points for #11)
