MOTOR DEVELOPMENT AND ANALYSIS
FINAL PROJECT
Drawing from information in your textbook, you will develop a PowerPoint presentation
(minimum 6 slides), that explains Newell’s Theory of Constraints. The presentation should
define the theory by explaining each constraint and how they relate to each other to promote or
prohibit movement in a physical education setting. Be sure to include manipulative and ballistic
skills with a focus on the five components of health-related fitness. Also relate perception and
action to motor development along with the impact that social, cultural and psychosocial
constraints can have on motor development in a physical education setting. Ultimately, use all
these factors that distinguish Newell’s Theory of Constraints to evaluate how this theory can help
guide your decisions as a physical education teacher to use differentiated instruction to promote
individualized student learning.
