You work for a media outlet and you’ve been assigned a research article to write about for a general audience, which is: https://www.nature.com/articles/ncomms6631. I have attached the article in the attachments.
Your writing should read like a newspaper article or blog post for mainstream consumption. It must be clear, concise and unbiased in its presentation of the facts. Of course, you want to make it as interesting as you can, but make sure you are not misleading your audience into believing something that isn’t true.
You will not be able to discuss the entire research article in your essay, but you need to make sure that discuss at least some of the statistical and mathematical content. You can include some graphs and tables, but make sure they are clear and easy to be understood by the general public.
You will also need a headline that is eye-catching, yet not misleading.
I suggest following the Context/Problem/Solution structure:
Context: Start by describing the context of the research (guideline: 50 — 100 words)
Problem: What the problem is that was addressed by the research (guideline: 50 — 100 words)
Solution: How the researchers solved that problem (or took steps towards a solution) (guideline: remaining words)
When writing about the researchers’ methods and results, look for 2-3 key mathematical or statistical points to focus on.
