For this class you must write three separate 3-4 page essays over the course of the semester. For each essay, there are three different options. Choose the one that is the most interesting to you. Write a 3-4 page, double-spaced, 1” margin paper. If your essay ends at the top of page 3, you probably have not delved deeply enough into the topic.
You are forbidden from using generative AI to write your paper. We are interested in YOUR ideas–not ones that are created by generative AI programs. As discussed on the syllabus use of generative AI to write some or all of your essay is considered cheating in this course. Note that use of sites, such as Grammarly (which says that they are only providing you with suggestions about the wording and grammar choices of your essay, but they actually use generative AI–also, their suggestions get to how you word and structure your argument, which no longer makes it YOUR work). Turnitin will also provide a report that tells you how much of your argument is based on AI. If your final draft has been marked as being written in part or in its entirety with AI, I will review your essay. If I determine that you have used AI, you will receive a 0 for that assignment. If it happens more than once, then you will fail the course.
Your written work should be free of misspellings, grammar mistakes, etc. If you feel that you have issues with your writing, please consult the University Writing Center. Do NOT rely on Grammarly or other sites since they use generative AI as part of their algorithm and you risk getting a 0 for the assignment.
