Given the evoution of capitalist society in Western Europe (specifically Germany), is class conflict still necessary for the proletariat to be able to achieve socialism, as Marx’s and Engels’s argued? Why or why not, and what does your response mean for for the fate of the existing state? (In other words, can the proletariat use the existing state to create socialism?)
