Instructions
Follow the instructions within the Excel Document.
Begin by typing your name into the Cover Sheet, then proceed to the assignment on the second sheet titled M4 Exercise.
All work should be completed in Excel in a clean, understandable way. Short responses supporting your conclusions should also be typed directly into the designated areas in the Excel document.
Correct keys and formulas from class are required to receive credit. Submissions with numbers alone and no keys or formulas will not receive credit.
Submit your Excel work below.
Collaboration with classmates is acceptable, but all work should be your own (no copying). Your short answers should also be your own (avoid ChatGPT, please). If you ask me, it will take you more time to type the question into ChatGPT and copy and paste its answer than it will to provide me with a few sentences from your own knowledge warehouse and receive full credit.
KEY NOTES FROM LAST ASSIGNMENT
Hi Ali,
Good work on the first assignment. A couple notes:
Part I: All your calculations look great. However, looking at the Number of Observations calculation – I like that you used the COUNT formula, but for Illinois and Wisconsin we want to use COUNTIF because we’re only counting if they are “Illinois” or “Wisconsin.” So, we should see 12 observations for each.
Part II: Task 1 – Careful with the T-test formula. We always end the formula with “2,3” in our class. It appears you used “2,2.”
From there, you correctly identified that the low p-value indicates statistical significance, which tells us that the difference in means is statistically significant – so, evidence suggests the means are different.
From above, if the means are statistically different, then we cannot state that the means are the same.
Part 2 – Your scatterplot looks great.
Task 3: Good work on your histogram.
