Individual Assignment
Product research piece: An individually written paper based on the linear production
system. You can choose any product and a company that makes / owns / produces
that product. Explain the steps the product takes through the linear production
system:- Extraction, Production / manufacture, logistics, packaging,
wholesale/retail, use and discard or waste or take back program. Suggest that
you choose a product that is not too complex. Students are free to discuss
their chosen product with me to ensure it is manageable.
The objectives include: to explain the
steps through which the product passes; to identify key ecosystem services upon
which this product is dependent; to explain the risks to the company of these
dependencies; to explain the steps in the journey where the biggest negative
impact occurs; to establish whether the company has recognized its risks and is
doing anything about it – if yes what?; do you think the company is doing
enough, could do more and whether you believe they have identified
opportunities. What more could they do to mitigate these negative impacts? Be
selective and avoid simply describing and please offer your analysis and
well-reasoned insights.

pdf and not exceed 5 pages and therefore aims to be concise and analytical.
