Identifying Fallacies
For this assignment you are to look at responses/comments readers leave for online newspaper articles to identify two fallacious responses (you’ll likely find many more than two). I would like you to pick a reputable source: Washington Post, New York Times, etc. In a 1-page typed response, please state each actual fallacy word for word as it appeared, identify the type of fallacy based on what is listed in your textbook, explain what specifically about that statement makes it a fallacy, and provide the link to the article(s) used for this assignment (make sure to use an article that was published within the past month).
Please note that you do not have to purchase a subscription to complete this assignment. As an Auburn student, you get access to the New York Times for free through the library’s database. The library also can provide links to other credible news sources. Additionally, a number of news sites allow a certain number of views before hitting a paywall. Most news sites have comment features as well to easily access the information you are asked to provide for this assignment.
