I have provided my 5 references in articles in order for you to use to format this final research proposal. The other files ive provided are for you to use as well for any benefit. Please let me know if you have any question or concerns.
Proposal Page Requirements and Formatting
Your proposal should be written in the style of a short report/brief report. Your paper will be written using APA Style. The body of your final proposal (i.e., introduction to discussion) should be between 950 words and 1200 words, excluding the title page, abstract, and reference list. Additionally, the abstract should be a minimum of 100 words and a maximum of 150 words and does not count towards word limit for the body of your paper.  You must cite five empirical journal articles.
Your proposal should be typed in a Microsoft Word format (either .doc or .docx), and you should use Times New Roman font, a font size of 12, and the text should be double-spaced. The margins should be set at 1 inch, and there should be no additional spacing between paragraphs. You must use proper APA Style formatting for your in-text citations and references. Your final proposal should not contain spelling, grammar, or punctuation errors and must consist of complete sentences. Please proofread your final proposal carefully.
Proposal Content Requirements
Your final proposal should include the following sections:
Title Page: The title page should include the title of the proposal, the author’s name, and your affiliation (i.e., University of Houston-Clear Lake). The title page will not be included in your overall word limit for the proposal.
Abstract: The abstract is a brief description of the study. Your abstract should include information about the current literature related to your topic, the hypothesis/hypotheses for your project, the general methods you propose to use, the main results you expect, and the primary conclusion from the project. The abstract should be a maximum of 150 words and will not be included in your overall word limit for the proposal.
Introduction: Offer a brief description of your topic and what is scientifically interesting about it. Provide a road map for the rest of the proposal. The introduction should also describe the current literature related to your research topic. This should include what we know from the literature, as well as the current limitations. In an integrated way, make sure to address findings from prior research and how your study will contribute to and extend prior research. Questions to consider: what have other scholars said about your topic? Is there historical or current background information about your topic that is important to consider?  Are there debates in the literature around your topic? What has not yet been addressed? At the end of the section, you should introduce the aims and hypotheses for your project. For the proposal, you need to have at least one specific hypothesis you plan to examine.
Methods: In this section, you should describe who you anticipate the participants for your study will be. This should include a plan for how you plan to recruit your participants. The section should also describe the procedures that you plan to use to collect data and the measures or tasks that would be used in the study. For the measures, you should specifically address how you plan to operationalize your hypotheses, and you should describe measures or questions for the independent and dependent variables within your hypotheses, as well as any demographics or covariates. For the procedures, you should provide a step-by-step description of how your data would be collected.
Analytic Plan: Because you will not be collecting data, you will not actually have results to report. Instead, you will need to describe the statistical techniques you propose using to both describe your sample and to test your hypotheses. This means you will need to address descriptive statistics, both those you plan to use to describe your sample and those needed to provide appropriate measures of central tendency and variability for the variables in your hypotheses, and inferential statistics, specifically the appropriate statistics to test your hypotheses.
Discussion: Because you are not collecting data, you will not actually have results to interpret. Instead, you should discuss how results could potentially support or discredit your hypotheses. Start first by clearly restating your hypotheses. Then, think about how your potential results could contribute to the body of knowledge on your topic. Make sure to use existing literature in your discussion and explain how your project can contribute new information to the field. The discussion section should also acknowledge the limitations of your proposed study and make suggestions for how future research can build from your proposed study.
References: All sources cited in the proposal should be listed in the reference list. The reference list should comply with APA style and will not be included in your overall word limit for the proposal. Short reports usually have a maximum of 20-30 references, so you should have at least five references for the proposal. Your references must be from empirical journal articles.
