I recently discovered something peculiar: while exploring the baptism records, I clicked on “Filters” and found documents categorized under “China” and “Of Asian descent,” which surprised me. Additionally, I noticed that most Asian females were named “Maria” and lacked surnames or personal information. I suspect this may be because they couldn’t speak Spanish at the time and were consequently named ‘Maria’.
