Hello GIS Data Analysts!
This week, we focus on creating infographics and graphing and extracting data, crucial skills in the world of GIS. We will use Esri Business Analyst to create an interactive infographic; in the example, I focus on COVID-19’s impact on the county. However, you can interact with the rich dataset however you wish. Additionally, we’ll look into the techniques of extracting data from graphs and work with Excel for data manipulation. Our resources also include ESRI’s Map Design Fundamentals, which will guide us in this process of good map design.
For this week’s graded discussion, let’s share our experiences, challenges, and insights from working on infographics and data extraction. Here are some prompts to guide your discussion:
Infographic Creation: Describe your process of creating an infographic using Esri Business Analyst. What theme did you choose for your COVID county impact infographic, and what data did you focus on?
Data Extraction Challenges: Discuss any challenges you’ve encountered in extracting data from graphs and how you’ve addressed them. Share any tips or tricks you’ve learned in the process.
Working with Excel: Share your experience with using Excel for data manipulation in this project. How did you integrate Excel data with Esri Business Analyst, and what challenges did you face?
Design and Analysis Insights: Reflect on how the principles from ESRI’s Map Design Fundamentals have influenced your infographic design and data analysis.
Technical Help and Collaboration: This is also a great space to ask for technical help or advice regarding Esri Business Analyst, Excel, or data extraction techniques. Feel free to support your peers who might be facing similar issues.
Important Note on Graded Discussions
Your participation in this discussion is critical and will be graded on the quality and relevance of your contributions. Ensure that your posts are thoughtful and informative and contribute meaningfully to our understanding of infographics and data extraction in GIS. Avoid basic or generic responses. We aim to foster a collaborative and insightful environment where we can enhance our data analysis and visualization skills.
I’m eager to learn about your infographic projects and your journey through data extraction and analysis!
