Look up and report on the level of crime in your community. Use the UCR, local police statistics, or victimization data. What are the major crime categories? 
Take a walk around your neighborhood. Looking at the physical environment, list the features you see that are good and bad environmental design. Specifically, tell why a feature is good or bad. 
Visit the National Crime Prevention Council’s website and explore the information you find there on media campaigns. Write a brief summary of the different campaigns they have conducted. How are they similar or different from one another?
The ability of the law and societal response to deter crime has been long debated. Everyone violates the law from time to time (hopefully for minor offenses). Why do they break the law when they know they are doing it (for example, speeding, rolling stops, underage use of alcohol, etc.)?
