For this essay, you will consider our three historical frames–communities, networks, and production and distribution– in order to better contextualize your object. After reading about your object, you will do further independent research on the culture that produced your object, as well as any cities/states/empires that the civilization who produced your object were connected to. All sources used must be cited. Your essay will need to be four to six pages long, typed in 12 point font and double-spaced. Your essay should answer all of the following questions:

What is your item?
Who created your item?
When was your item created?
What was the item used for?
Historical frames:
What did communities look like in the civilization that your object was produced in?

○ Religion/belief systems
○Leisure activities
What networks was your civilization a part of?
○ Who were they trading with?
○ Were they part of an empire at the time?
What did production and distribution look like in your civilization?
○ What did social hierarchy look like?
○ Who was producing goods?
○Were goods produced in your area distributed on a broad scale along trade networks? If so, to whom?
The essay needs to be about the “Statue of Tara” from A History of the World in 100 Objects. Use the book but also use outside sources that are reliable.
