We are going to use Excel to analyze answers. In Excel you do not need to codify nominal answers, but there are another softwares that can help you to analyze the answers to your survey that require you to codify your data before performing any statistical analysis, such as IBM SPSS.
If you are codifying your data, the best is to use a data code book in which the creator of the dataset indicates how answers are converted to numbers, how each option in each question is converted into a number.
You can notice in the dataset that you obtained from your Google Forms how answers are collected as words, when in your answer options you captured words, for example “Yes” and “No”. And when your options were numbers, then numbers are collected as such.
We are going to analyze a dataset as it is obtained from a Google form, using Excel.
Once you have your whole dataset clean, now you can begin to analyze your data. Usually, researchers use descriptive statistics to begin to understand their data. Descriptive statistics are measurements that try to summarize the main characteristics of each variable, that describe them. Descriptive statistics do not help to make inference to the population. They only describe whatever the participants answered in each question.
