First, you must choose to analyze any ONE (1) of the following films to watch:

● From Scratch (2022) You must e-mail me your chosen film no later than Friday, 4/19/24 no later than 11:59 pm CST.  This e-mailed topic proposal  will count as Quiz #5!   To ensure that students are not disproportionately working one film (i.e. 15 students analyzing American History X), film selections are offered on a first come, first serve basis.   Details of the Critical Media Analysis Paper (8-10 pages): This assignment requires you to use one interracial communication theory discussed in the class readings to evaluate, research and analyze your chosen film. As you work toward the completion of this paper, you must submit a detailed outline or rough draft in order to receive feedback from me prior to submitting the final version of the paper.  Your outline or rough draft (worth 40 points), must be at least 2 pages (double-spaces, size 12, Times New Roman) to earn credit and to receive useful feedback from me. Your outline or rough draft is due no later than Wednesday, 4/24/24 no later than 11:59 pm CST.  Your final paper will be due Friday, 5/3/24 no later than 11:59 pm CST. 
This paper should be written in APA format and include:
● Film Description: 2-3 page summary and description of selected film scene or storyline.
● Theory Overview: 2-3 pages of research on the theory. Describe the basic elements of the theory
and include a discussion of how the theory has been applied in the past.
● Analysis: 4-5 pages.  Use the selected theory to frame a detailed analysis of the selected scene or storyline in
● Works Cited: Cite ALL sources used within the paper on the works cited page including the film,
your textbook, and any supporting journal articles or otherwise credible sources.
● NOTE: Cover page and references are not included in the overall page count.
