Purpose: To encourage graduate students to understand the theory and practice of two particular therapies in which they have a particular interest.
Assignment Details: Proper APA format for all 5 references. This research paper should include 5-7 content pages. This does not include the title page and references list and should cover:
Introduction:
Describe two therapies One of these therapies has to be considered “Alternative” while the Second therapy needs to be “conventional.” Be sure to use APA in-text citations and include the following in and the formation:
Describe each therapy noting in particular why the Alternative therapy is considered “Alternative.”
Describe what each of these therapies is used for. Example: Therapies used for pain (be descriptive here for Neuropathic pain).
How are particular therapies designed to work? Example: pain killers help block prostaglandins etc… 30 points
Conclusion:
Compare and contrast these two techniques based on the following information:
Compare (outline) the similarities of the therapies based on their explanations, where these two therapies are practiced, and ideas of prevention and/or cure. Example: pain and how one particular type of “Alternative” therapy focuses how the brain controls pain signals in relationship to mood etc…Make sure to compare these two therapies based on their claims.
Contrast the two systems outing the differences in explanations, cure, philosophy etc…
What are the scientific findings for the therapies effectiveness? Example: pain research
Describe which of the two therapies is most effective even if it is not the Alternative therapy, but please make sure to explain why it is not as effective if this is the case.
Please include the overall conclusion of the therapy found most effective based on the scientific/academic publications researched.
