The paper must:
• be 1200-1500 words of written text, not including footnotes;
• be double-spaced in 12 point, Times New Roman font,
• use proper citation methods.
The focus of the paper is the analysis of a contemporary IR situation or set of circumstances using a selection of the theories, key terms and concepts discussed in the course.
The paper must be based upon research derived from at least three (3) peer-reviewed journal articles or books on the selected topic.
Note that three is a minimum. More peer-reviewed sources are always welcome and grades will reflect that you went beyond the minimum.
The focus of the essay is on an institution, concept or historical event.
Your essay will:
1. Describe the institution, concept or historical event and its importance in understanding international relations.
2. Relate the institution, concept or historical event to the theories of international relations and other ideas covered in the class.
3. If relevant, describe and explain the role of individual nation-states and/or their leaders.
4. Do so in the context of a clearly established argument and analytical framework.
