Consider the three different types of social ventures identified in Chapter 1 and identify some of the reasons why social entrepreneurship is becoming a global phenomenon. Watch Michael Porter’s TED Talk, “Why Business Can Be Good at Solving Social Problems”. Consider how business plays a positive role in addressing social issues and what could they do better.
Use Chapter 2 in your text for information on the entrepreneurial mindset and how it might affect the likelihood of an individual to engage in social entrepreneurship. Identify the key entrepreneurial competencies and individual characteristics and explain how they could lead to the creation and effective management of a social venture. Which of these competencies and characteristics do you currently possess and which still need to be developed? Explain.
Your report should be between 2-3 pages, typed, double-spaced with 1″ margins. Incorporate reference sources and cite those sources, both in-text and in a final References section. The expectation is that you will include at least three outside reference sources to substantiate your thoughts and extend your knowledge.
