Choose your own topic, as you did in the Midterm Paper, using any two of our class texts that you have not written about in the Midterm Paper. You might use a theme, a literary device, a metaphor or symbol, or perhaps the era in which the work was written as your focal point.  Through your examination and analysis of these texts, you should be able to create a thesis for your paper.
Use two outside sources of literary criticism or academic theory.  These sources should be clearly incorporated into the paper and be cited on the Works Cited page.  Use viable sources either from the college databases or from a book.
Grading criteria
The paper should show depth of thinking and close reading of the texts.
The paper should be focused and show clarity of thought.
The paper should be well-organized.
The paper should integrate relevant quotes well, using correct MLA format.
Use a minimum of five quotes. (Again only one longer indented quote allowed.)
The paper should be minimally five full pages in length. At least one word onto sixth page is a good idea.
The Works Cited should be complete and formatted correctly. (Works Cited does not count as a page.)
