“Fire on the Mountain, Granite Mountain Hotshots”  AND, 
“The Day the Great Plains Burned”,
write an essay discussing your thoughts about these articles, considering the points given below. Your essay must be a minimum of 500 words and will be graded on content, as well as the proper use of grammar and spelling. Here are some things to consider while reading the articles and writing your essay:
Discuss the rigors and hazards of wildland firefighting.
Discuss the importance of training and pre-planning for these types of incidents.
Discuss the importance of following safety standards and what happens when you become complacent.
Discuss the economic (not the cost of firefighting operations themselves) and social impacts of wildfire.
Discuss the role of volunteer fire depts. in wildland firefighting in most communities in the United States.
