Choose one of the videos listed below. What information in the video do think is most significant or fascinating? Why? Make a list of your reasons, each of which becomes a paragraph in your paper. Use examples from the video to support your argument. Thesis example: Neanderthal hunting skills and physical strength are fascinating because of A, B, C, and D… (replace letters with your own paragraphs).
The Research Paper is divided into four sections:
1. proposal
2. paper
3. annotated bibliography 4. presentation
(1) Proposal
A proposal explains your paper, 1 page
Explain the following in your proposal, giving each one paragraph:
• Description: give the topic, the arguments associated with it (What are you arguing?),
and the extent of your knowledge of the topic.
• Statement of focus: state what you intend to write about; be clear and specific.
• Reason for choosing the topic: explain why this topic interests you and why you chose it.
• Resources: list and briefly explain your sources, which include two database sources +
the video.
(2) Paper
The actual text of the paper, 4 pages

Paragraph 1: Introduction, 5-6 sentences
• Hook: get your reader interested in your topic
• Background: explain any complicated topics you are arguing about and cite the
source of any definitions you use, if applicable; for ex., according to dictionary.com…
• Thesis: one to two sentences arguing a point about the topic that you will prove
throughout the body of your essay. Include your paragraph topics in the thesis.
Paragraphs 2-6: Body Paragraphs
• Topic sentence: one argument proving your thesis
• 5-6 sentences: evidence from the sources that proves the argument for this
paragraph and your explanation/ analysis of that evidence
• Concluding Sentence: do NOT introduce the argument for the next paragraph;
instead, explain how the evidence you introduced in this paragraph helps prove the thesis
Final Paragraph: Conclusion
• 5-6 sentences: explain how the arguments from the body paragraphs prove your thesis, how those arguments are connected to each other, and why your thesis is important
• Concluding Sentence: end memorably (3) Annotated Bibliography
This is a Works Cited with a short paragraph under each entry explaining why each source is useful, 1-2 pages
(4) Presentation
PowerPoint (or other program) presentation that explains your thesis and why you chose your topic; include a picture, map, or graph, 3 pages/ slides
