To expand and revise (including revising grammar) my writing based on the questions given by the teacher.
(teacher)Questions to consider:
• Which of the four themes (Repair, Reciprocity, Rights of Nature, Amplify) did you choose and why?
• What is the main topic, question, or problem you would like to work with?
• How does your project address the three sustainability ethics of earth care (ecosystems), people care (community), and fair share (economics)? How does the vision for your project repair, restore, or regenerate each aspect?
• What major paradigm shift (cognitive or perceptual shift) do you intend to encourage with your project?
• How does your project contribute to a vision of cyclic or circular thinking rather than greenwashing?
• What is your stewardship vision? Who or what do you feel drawn to care for? What systems do you feel passionate about repairing?
I chose Rights of Nature because I am a tiny animal person myself. I have a cat and a dog of my own. I see them as my family, and I have always believed that we are equal. In traditional Chinese education, there is no particular emphasis on the equality of animals and people. So this is a critical topic for me. People have desires, and we destroy the ecosystem because of our desires. We are in constant pursuit of a wider living environment, and we are in continuous search of more beautiful clothes and more delicious food. We are desperate to earn money every day to get a better life. But we are not satisfied with solving the subsistence or mundane life, and we will pursue some extraordinary things.
Let’s say fur, and fur is to meet the vanity. Because it is a decorative item used to show their status, you will not be frozen to death without wearing fur, but many people will still choose to buy fur. We eat green vegetables and some meat every day to get enough to eat. But some people will choose to eat some wild animals to pursue the mountain of food or for more excitement. I feel that the animals raised on the farms are food. They are new breeds bred by man and are specially made to provide food for us humans. But the animals of nature, the animals that live in the forest, and our pets, have human rights. They are equal to us, and we do not have the right to eat them because we did not raise them. They also exist as an independent individual. Some people will buy ivory or other animal skins to make art for the so-called art. I don’t think those things can be called art because it doesn’t exist in themselves as beauty. They live life because they may be more precious, so people give them a high artistic value. But I do not recognize these works of art.
I think art is to be close to life, to express their ideas, those things are only gorgeous appearance, such art is no soul only cruelty. So I am trying to make an environmental bag on the top of the stickers full of my shopping tickets. People now make money to satisfy their desires, but much of our consumption is crippling the environment around us or crippling other creatures. Many of us don’t notice this when we consume. How many of us notice when we buy cosmetics whether the packaging has the No Animal Testing logo? I believe that many people do not see that some of the things we use in our daily lives can cause harm to the environment or other animals. The meaning of this work is to make people pay attention to the consumption of this thing, do not fall into some consumption is a trap. And don’t hurt other animals or the environment to satisfy your desires. Because this earth is all of us, including people and animals, we all have the right to enjoy what we have now. The animals have not done anything to harm us, and we cannot do anything to harm the animals. Desire is endless, and you will never get all you want, so we should control our desires. To care more about the people around us, the environment around us, and even the animals around us, to live together in peace and have a better future. If we satisfy our selfish desire to wreak havoc, we will get our comeuppance one day.
