First, what is McAlevey’s analysis of the opposition that working Americans face as they try to build a life for themselves and their families?  Second, how, if at all, is her explanation similar to Wolin’s analysis of power in the US and what happens to democratic governance?  Please include one of the stories about a worker that she tells us in Chapter 1.  Third, briefly discuss how convincing her account of “who killed the unions” is for you and explain what makes it a convincing explanation (or not).
