Elder abuse has become a widespread social problem that has only begun to be recognized in the recent decade. Research and select one recent United States elder abuse case and discuss the following:
1. Summarize the facts, identify the parties, provide the rule of law applied in the case, and discuss the court’s rationale.
2. Identify the type or types of elder abuse committed against the victim.
3. Identify the statutory provisions that addressed the elder abuse perpetrated against the victim.
4. Discuss the role of adult protective services and the services available to the victimized elder.
5. How the investigation was conducted and if there was probable cause that a crime was committed.
6. What were the criminal or civil remedies available to the abused elder?
