In this exercise, you will discover your three members of the U.S. Congress and how they can serve you. Your assignment is to examine your member of the U.S. House of Representatives and your two U.S. Senators.: (See sample below)
1) United States House of Representatives 
a. Who is your U.S. Representative? (Visit www.house.gov and enter your zip code in the upper left to find your U.S. Congressman. I want the name, party affiliation, and State/district information. EXAMPLE: John Doe (R) California District 25. 
b. List two committees he/she serve on (After finding your congressman for #la, simply visit their website by clicking their name. Navigate their website and find the section that lists the current committees they sit on. I want you to list TWO committees along with a brief description of each)
c. List three constituent services he/she can offer you. (Navigate their website and find the section that lists the types of services they offer their constituents. I want you to list THREE constituent services along with a brief description of each. NOTE: A constituent service is how your member of congress helps individuals in their district or State and is NOT the same thing as representing constituents. Voting to end abortion funding or fighting to keep crime rates low ARE NOT constituent services. Again, constituent services are services or actions your congressman can do right now to help their individual constituents)
2) United States Senate
a. Who are your two U.S. Senators? (Visit www.senate.gov and select California in the upper right to find your two U.S. Senators. Give me their names, party affiliation and State. EXAMPLE: John Doe (D-Ca) and Jane Doe (R-Ca)
b. List two committees one of your senators serves on. (After finding your senators, pick one and simply visit their website by clicking their name. Navigate their website and find the section that lists the current committees they sit on. I want you to list TWO committees along with a brief description of each)
c. List three constituent services one of your senators can ofter you. (Navigate their website and find the section that lists the types of services they offer their constituents. I want you to list THREE constituent services along with a brief description of each constituent service)
