The gist of the assignment is to write an academic paper which analyzes a current incident that could be featured in the Powers text if Ms. Powers chose to update the book to include more modern examples of her book’s thems. 
Choose a specific incident that could be described in The Silencing  if Kirsten Powers were writing the book using current events from the past three years.
Write a 4-6 full page in-depth analysis of the incident, including at least 3 works cited (one can be the Powers text and one of which should lead to further detail regarding the incident selected).
Your grade on the paper will be based on your ability to choose an incident that is relevant to this assignment, effectively analyze the issues pertaining thereto, and clearly demonstrate a thorough reading and understanding of The Silencing. Grammatical and spelling errors will negatively impact your grade.
