1. Minimum of 20 mins and maximum of 30 mins
2. Must create an engaging PowerPoint presentation on the main
points of the chapter
3. Do not have long paragraphs on slides
4. Interactive – You must engage the audience so that we must think
critically. You are not here to simply read. You should be able to
transition back and forth between the audience and your
presentation. You should be able to ask and answer questions
seamlessly.
Rubric:
Knowledge Of Material (20 points)
☺ Explains clearly
☺ Able to explain most slides in alternate ways to make something
clearer (before a student has a question) or when someone does
not understand something (does not just give the answer)
☺ Real-world examples (can you make analogies and compare the
info from the book with what’s going on in the lives of the
audience members today? Do you have shared experiences from
other classes that you can relate to?)
☺ Mix of higher-order and lower-order questions
☺ Able to rephrase a question when someone (or the class) does not
understand
Engagement (20 points)
☺ Interactive – consistently checking for understanding throughout
the presentation by asking questions. This is not saying, “Everyone
understand?”
☺ Feedback – Giving feedback to students about their attempts to
answer your questions. How do you praise students when they are
spot on? How do you respond when a student is incorrect?
☺ Connected to the Audience – Understands when to move on
Delivery (20 points)
☺ Tone of voice – good clear voice and non-monotonous pace
☺ Energy should be positive and lively. Please smile. You should be
excited about having an opportunity to teach something. I don’t
want to hear, “Well I’m good in front of kids but have trouble in
front of my peers.” Nope. Don’t want to hear that. You say this is
what you want to do for your career so…
