Instructions for research paper:
Your research paper should focus on the culture and traditions of a region of your choice—Spain, Mexico or South America. We have explored numerous examples during this course, and you should not duplicate the events or celebrations that we have discussed.
Find 3 events, celebrations or traditions from your region and include the following in your paper:
The origin and history of the tradition—when, why, who, how?
Location of the tradition—has it spread or is it localized?
Details about the celebration/observation in the past and today-what goes into the event?
Cultural significance in the world today—has it changed over the years/how is it different now? Why might it have changed or stayed the same?
How does it compare to any celebrations or traditions in the U.S., or is it unique? Would anything similar make sense in the U.S.?
What does this tradition say about the people who celebrate it?
A minimum of 5 pages, double-spaced, 12 pt font.
In-text citations of references and well as a works cited page in APA format.
A minimum of 6 sources. Books, magazines, websites with current (3 years old or fewer) information are preferred.
