Thesis:
Access to reproductive health services that ensure freedom to make well-informed choices about one’s sexual reproductive health, including contraception, safe and legal abortion, and full sexuality education, is a fundamental human right that should not be denied. The present-day discussion about reproductive rights in the United States is multidimensional and complicated with legal, social, and health-related issues.
Modality:
The presentation will be interactive, using research articles, law cases, and government policies as major sources. It will inspire the participants to be actively involved in the discussion through intriguing questions and the possibility of reflection.
Objective:
At the end of this presentation, participants will better recognize the current state of reproductive rules in the U.S., including the legal barriers, health consequences, and ongoing public policies. Equally, participants will be encouraged to use the lens of reproductive justice to examine the overlapping issues of equity, justice, and health.
Discussion questions
How do you define reproductive rights, and what are the main reasons it is crucial for people and society?
