reading of any poem by any of the poets you were assigned—with one exception: You
cannot analyze a poem by the same poet you were assigned for your group presentation.
Use the “Analyzing Poetry” and “Poetry Glossary” (and all other handouts) as tools to
analyze the poem you choose. Keep in mind that it is important to use critical and literary
language to analyze literature, as we have been doing in class in our close reading practice.
The “Fiction Terms and Concepts” handout that we used to analyze fiction is also relevant
to poetry, since many of the literary terms for fiction also apply to poetry. You are expected
to put into practice the literary terms and strategies from handouts and to follow
suggestions outlined in handouts posted on first module on Canvas
