In each case, the definition of “the copy” was altered, and issues of originality, authenticity, and authorship were put into new light. Be sure to talk about how The French Spiderman was controversial –– in which there were at least two sides to the issue, or two positions that were taken such as how Tomic is considered a “copy” in the sense of imitating Alain Robert’s climbing style or goals but is rather dubbed “Spiderman” for his similar skill set used in a very different context. Provide us with the historical and artistic context of that case, summarize why it was controversial or debated, and analyze what the opposing positions were.
Presentations are to be 10 minutes long exactly. Present the positions on both sides of the issue. End your presentation with the Question that you think your case raises on an issue of originality, authenticity, imitation, etc.
