Prompt/Instructions: Toward the end of The Anti-Capitalist Chronicles, David Harvey asks whether the end of COVID-19 restrictions will lead to a different kind of society or whether we will opt to return to the kind of system that existed prior to the shutdowns (see p. 200-201).  What did “we” ultimately choose, and why?  To what extent has the American historical experience been about benefiting business and corporate interests, starting with the US Constitution itself and how it has been interpreted by the US Supreme Court since?  Ian Millhiser focuses on this; analyze carefully; use examples to explain.  How might the willingness to return to the status quo ante be part of the legacy set out by the justice system?  As one looks to the future, can democratic values still have a place in this country or are we moving toward a more authoritarian future, as Jason Stanley suggests?  Can this be changed?  Do we still have agency?  Explain.
