Congratulations! You won the lottery and have decided to use your winnings to start your own hospitality business (hotel, restaurant, spa, golf club or other hospitality related business). In paper, analyze and select the following:
Type of business you are starting and where
Legal Entity: will this be a Sole Proprietorship, LLC or Corporation? Why?
Franchise: Are you purchasing a franchise? Why or why not? What legal issues do you need to consider?
Intellectual Property: What intellectual property (Trademark, Copyright etc.) issues do you need to address? Review USPTO.gov. I recommend conducting a Trademark search.
Licensing/Zoning: What type of licenses/permits will you need? Any zoning issues to consider? (be sure to research the City/County zoning and permits)
Any types of technology or innovation you’d like to employ?
Any other legal issues you want to address?
For this assignment, you will create a paper. It can either be a Word document or a Power Point. The presentation must include at least seven (7) content pages, plus a title page, a summary of the business concept and a reference page in APA format.
Be sure to demonstrate understanding of the legal concepts. Consult Chapters 20 and 21 of your textbook and the accompanying Power Point for assistance. Submit on Canvas under the “Assignment” link.
